In addition, the Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation provided 100 tickets to the home game held on October 28th for distribution to school volunteers that assist with the day-to-day administration of the Artists-in-the-Schools program.
The Kids ‘N Community Foundation was established by the Carolina Hurricanes to support organizations and charities that have a heart to enhance the lives of children in North Carolina. The Hurricanes are proud to actively promote, contribute to, and support organizations and individuals who serve the diverse needs of the community in which we all live. Through annual grants and in-kind giving, the Hurricanes strive to be a catalyst for community spirit, pride, and initiative. With more than $7.5 million in cash and in-kind services going to statewide organizations since the team's establishment in 1997, the Carolina Hurricanes proudly continue their philanthropic role as a community partner.
Available for all students grades K-12 at 41 of Johnston County's public schools, the Artists-in-the-Schools program focuses on using the arts as a tool for learning and cultural enrichment. Supported by a strong community partnership between the Johnston County Arts Council and the Johnston County Schools (JCS), over $1,125,000 has been raised since the program's start in 1999. Through public, private, corporate, and individual support, the Artists-in-the-Schools is able to utilize the arts to reinforce and expand basic curriculum through exposure to performances, hands-on workshops, and residencies with professional artists.
