The Cary Town Council decided Thursday night to loosen up its restrictive rules for business signs.
There are still restrictions on size, color and font, but a new task force will be formed to review the sign policy.
"Anytime stuff like that goes up, I don't know how Cary has so many well paid efficient employees, but they're gone within like 15 minutes," said Ryan Pilz of Ruckus Pizza.
Complaints from realtors unable to advertise homes for sale were one of the concerns that sparked the review.
Realtors say it's hard to sell when people don't know the homes are up for sale, but they also need the town to look nice in order to sell those homes.
The new task force will be in charge of finding a balance between allowing business owners to advertise and keeping the community pretty.
"I'm hoping that Cary wants to take it, what I like to call Full Tilt Bozo, and really look at the whole thing," said Jeremy Weitzel, owner of AllKindsa Signs, who is on the task force.
The first meeting of the task force is set for November and will then present their recommended changes to the council in March.
