UNDATED--

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a frost advisory for Monday morning, which may be the area's first frost of the season.

A cold upper level trough remained over the region Sunday and a high pressure will build east into N.C. Sunday night bringing the cold conditions, according to the NWS.

The frost advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday. Scattered frost is expected by daybreak; areas most susceptible to frost will be low lying areas away from trees and buildings. Urban areas may only see scattered light frost.

Urban areas may also experience the first freeze of the year.

"Roxboro may hit 32 overnight which would be the first freeze of the year," said meteorologist Melissa Sander.

A frost advisory means that frost is possible and sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
