A local group of protestors that think the government is spending too much money took their message to the streets in a unique way.
"It's called a rolling tea party," organizer Ross McDowell said.
It was mid-summer when McDowell wanted to organize a protest near the capital building in downtown Raleigh, but couldn't get a permit.
"I thought at the time, 'Well, why don't we just circle it all day long in our cars and wave our signs and flags from there?'" he said.
That's when the idea for a rolling tea party protest was born.
Frank Livingston decided to drive because he says the country is spending too much money.
"My grandkids won't be able to get us out of debt and it's not their fault," he said. "You can't just keep lending money (and) giving money away to people. I don't care whatever good reason it is."
Livingston practically made his car a billboard advertising controled government spending, but others were a bit more subtle with their decorations.
Proponents of government spending say it is necessary to spend money in order for the country to move forward.
One state legislator said, "There's nobody that wants to increase taxes, but concurrently nobody wanted to lay off (more) school teachers or cut health programs."
In April, thousands of people protested President Obama's spending plan with a tea party.
Unlike that tea party, this one did not concentrate on President Obama.
"This isn't about a political party," Livingston said. "This is about Americans who have common sense enough to say, 'hey, we're broke.'"

It makes me angry to think that in this country which is suppose to be free, that you need a permit to protest. Of corse the government is going to deny the permit. The people no longer run this country and our freedom is vanishing very quickly. People need to fight for our freedom here at home, not in other countries.
