ZEBULON, N.C. -

South Carolina authorities have arrested a man wanted in connection to running over a Zebulon police officer after a chase Friday.

Jason Earl Anthony was arrested in Greenville County, SC late Friday night for a car jacking that occurred in the area. Law enforcement later discovered he was wanted in Zebulon.

Anthony is being held without bond while awaiting extradition to Wake County. He faces multiple charges, including attempted murder on a police officer, larceny, resist-delay and obstruct, and various traffic related offenses.

Zebulon police say Anthony was the driver of the car that ran over the Officer Brandon Atwood.

Officer Atwood and Sgt. Tivon Howard had responded to a call to the Scotchman Convenience Store at 503 W. Gannon Ave. in Zebulon just after 1:30 a.m. A caller had reported that occupants in a blue Ford Ranger pickup truck were trying to steal propane cylinders from a rack in front of the store.

At 1:40 a.m., the officers approached the four people in the 2002 Ford truck at the Swift Mart on Highway 97 at Lizard Lick Road. While asking the men questions the driver of the truck put the truck into gear and began to drive away. Atwood was trapped between the passenger door and the truck.

Even while being dragged, Atwood was able to draw his weapon and fired at the truck. No one was injured. After being dragged for a short distance, the truck then ran over Atwood's leg.

A short time later, a Highway Patrol trooper spotted the truck and began a pursuit on Highway 96 near Jack Mitchell Road. The truck then wrecked into a ditch on Ferrell Road.

Terry Lynn Pearce Sr, 43, of Louisburg, Terry Lynn Pearce Jr., 20, of 4510 Momose Tree Lane in Raleigh and Ashley Elizabeth Jones, 19, of 1980 Spring Drive in Garner were also arrested.

Pearce Sr. was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent To kill and resisting a public officer.
Jones is charged with resisting a public officer while Pearce Jr. is charged with felony accessory after the fact and underage consumption
