WAKE COUNTY, N.C. -
Wake County deputies arrested Carletta Alston, 24, with the murder of Michael Smith.
Smith was murdered June 4 outside of his Knightdale home.
Deputies were called to a home at 1808 Lucas Road for reports of gunshots.
When deputies arrived they found Smith, 48, in the driveway of the home with gunshot wounds.
Neighbors who knew Smith said he moved to the area about a year ago and that he was a truck driver who left for work in the early morning hours. Crime scene investigators recovered a thermos and what appeared to be a lunch bag and two vehicles from the driveway.
"He was a church-going man, a truck driver. He got along with everybody in the neighborhood," said Carl Lucas. "If he could help you, he would help you."
