North Carolina walked away with a victory from Saturday's football game against East Carolina, 31 to 17.
For some fans, it was more than just a game.
Just off Franklin street in Chapel Hill, you'll find Matt Littlejohn.
He never went to UNC, but he proudly displayed his love for the tar heels from the top of his head to his Carolina blue and white Nike shoes.
"I'm L-J, 1-2," the self-proclaimed "biggest tar heel fan," said "I rock it in section 125 with the hard-core, high-money donors and we're here to go undefeated."
Like most fans, Littlejohn displayed his allegiance on the outside.
However, for Samuel Lloyd a simple shirt showing his colors wouldn't do.
He had specially made Krispy Kreme donuts that resembled purple and gold footballs.
"Pirates are number one," he said.
But when it comes to food and tail-gating for a team, look no further than Vicki Williams' tent.
"We have fruit trays, we have chicken minis," she said listing the table of food under the Carolina blue tent. "We have the North Carolina interlocking NC brownie."
From the food selection, to the napkins there was no doubt about Williams' love for the Carolina blue.
In fact, it's essential to her tailgate experience.
"(Tail-gating means) having a good time with family and friends," she said pausing briefly, "and being on the campus of North Carolina."
