The Town of Hillsborough seeks bids from qualified, professional street sweeping firms to clean the curb and gutter area of selected streets. The deadline for receiving bids is 1 p.m. Sept. 1.

The selected contractor will furnish all labor, equipment and traffic control necessary to remove all dirt, debris, sand, gravel and cinders, etc. from the gutter lines of all curb and gutter streets. The town can provide water for the street sweeping truck, but the dumping of sweeping debris in a state certified/regulated landfill will be the contractor’s responsibility. The total length of curb and gutter to be swept is about
10.96 miles.

Sweeping work is estimated to begin Sept. 25, 2009, and would be a once-per-month operation, depending on budgeted funds. The town may vary quantities of additional sweeping at the request of the Public Works Department. This work may include traffic islands and parking lots within town limits. Work would be performed between 7 a.m. and noon the last Friday of each month.

The contract would be effective Sept. 25, 2009-July 1, 2010, and would be subject to annual renewal for three additional one-year periods.
