Kickoff the holiday season by joining Gov. Bev Perdue and First Gentleman Bob Eaves as they light the Christmas tree on December 10.
The festivities begin at 5 p.m. with the lighting of luminaries and holiday music by the Kernersville Glenn High School Chorus. Then at 6:15 p.m. on the South grounds, the Christmas tree will be lit.
After the tree lighting ceremony, spectators are invited to tour the State Capitol. The Raleigh Garden Club will again provide decorations for the historic building.
Other activities and events will take place through the evening. The nearby Museum of History and Museum of Natural History will be open until 7:30 p.m. and will also provide activities.
There will be free parking along the street and in state government lots after 5 p.m.
