CUMBERLAND, N.C. -
A Cumberland County man is behind bars, facing charges for allegedly stealing a refrigeration truck loaded with frozen food.
Stephen David McWhorter, 49, allegedly stole a Schwann's delivery truck on Halloween night in Fayetteville, according police. Police say the truck was parked inside a secured gate on company property.
The stolen truck was found abandoned along a highway in Sampson County. The investigation led authorities to McWhorter's home where they found more than $3,000 worth of frozen food stashed in a freezer.
McWhorter has been charged with larceny and possession of a motor vehicle. He was placed in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $15,000 bond.
