FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Fayetteville Police have issued arrest warrants for a retired U.S. Army officer who has been charged with committing fraud within the military community.

According to the police department's Fraud Unit, 43-year-old Nathaniel Lee Walker has been scamming people out of money since October 2008. Detectives say Walker would tell victims that an investment opportunity with a quick return was available, usually in the real estate market. The victim would then write Walker a check to which he immediately cashed. When the victims pressed Walker for the return on their investment, he would write them a fraudulent check.

Detectives say all of his victims to date have been active military or in some way connected to the military, and have been known by him.

Walker is a retired Warrant Officer and has regular access to soldiers on Fort Bragg. Walker also owns and operates Education Consulting Advisors and was previously a licensed real estate agent operating under Rosewood Real Estate Company.

Four arrest warrants were issued for Walker for felony worthless checks. He turned himself in to authorities on September 15 and was released under an unsecured bond.

Three additional warrants have been issued for his arrest and additional cases are pending.

Anyone having any information on Nathaniel Lee Walker, or to report financial fraud, is urged to call Detective Jennifer Kelly at (910) 433-1856.
