A former candidate for lieutenant governor, a Wake County judge and a State Board of Elections member are on North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan's list of potential candidates for the federal judiciary.
Hagan presented her list of recommendations this week to President Obama for three U.S. attorneys, two judgeships and three U.S. marshals. She offered three possible nominees for each position from which Obama could choose.
Former lieutenant governor's candidate Hampton Dellinger is one candidate to be U.S. attorney in eastern North Carolina. Wake County Judge Ripley Rand is on the list for the top prosecutor's post for central counties. He's the son of Senate Majority Leader Tony Rand.
Elections board member Anita Earls is a candidate to become a District Court judge.
