You have got to be f***ing with me. The world has lost the greatest entertainer that ever lived, and you're complaining about too much media coverage? The only problem I have with the media is the sucking up after he dies. I don't think it is understood how big he was. BTW he was no pedophile or anything. You guys are complaining about the over-the-top media coverage, and where exactly did you get that stupid pedo idea from? It's all *****, but it sells papers, especially to ignorant people like yourselves.
- Why are people hating on 07/07 04:39 PM
he was the greatest pop star ever people need to quit hating on him for that you all are just jealous because you can't be him and do the things he have done throughout his lifetime Loosers!

The name calling isn't necessary. However, the network coverage is way over blown. Sinatra, whose recording history stretched over five decades, was not accorded this much national recognition, nor was Elvis (whose numerous gold and platinum records eclipse Jackson's). It's summer. News is slow. The media has nothing else to do. This is considered a non-controversial subject that anyone can espouse on... and they do! Endlessly!
- let it go on 07/07 12:09 PM
Let the pediphile die. He was a great artist but when he messed with children he blew that. Now he's just a financially over extended and over rated ex-star and a common pediphile.

This will keep going until he is buried and the autopsy reports reach there final conclusion. I loved Michael Jackson when I saw the Jackson 5's first album. I was 8 years old. This was the first boy that I really loved. I loved Michael up until Thriller. When the weirdness started and the music changed I moved on. These tributes reminded me how great he was and I haven't watched the videos in years. I thought it was amazing that I could sing every word to every song. It is not too much Michael Jackson. It is what it is, a legend who was loved around the world. In 20 years no one will remember this anyway. Let's have this time with Michael.

I think it is understandable, under the circumstances, that a well-known celebrity would receive so much attention. However, as is the case in any family situation; once the body is buried and in the ground... it is time to heal and move on. Let's hope that you as the media will do just that. Move on. We have heard enough. Love Michael and hate him... let's all understand that WE are not his judge and jury. He WILL answer to God for his actions and justice will prevail in the end. We have that peace. Media -- let it go now. Unless there is a major news release; i.e., the toxicology results or the guardianship issue settled, we don't need to hear or see any more. Once those releases come out -- give them ONE broadcast and move on. There is too much good news in the world to continue to focus on past history. History has a way of revealing itself in time... let it take its natural course. Tomorrow is the funeral and the commemoration. Wednesday, let's have some new news and stop rehashing this story over and over again!

NO MATTER WHAT U THINK OR I THINK THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE WORLD IS IN AWWWW WITH MJ RIGHT NOW AND IT IS ACCEPT OR TURN UR BACK ON IT. It will not be over until he is put to rest and due to media coverage that may never happen. I have learned a lot I didn't ever hear about him until he died and that is a shame. He gave to more charities than many churches as a whole ever chose to give, while struggling his whole life for people to see him as a true person rather than an idol. The media covered all the things in his life before his death and no one got on here gripeing about what was in the tabloids at every supermarket but if the media reports the good side of a person people start complaining. My father fought in 2 wars, one brother fought, and the other served and I as American I thank God for them everyday. Every military personal gets my blessing and always will but I know there is a difference when it comes to being a celebrity. Our military is the finest and even if they return to us in one piece they are equally as important so we can't just name each one in the news all day bc from the earliest wars in this country they were all fighting for our freedom and not any soldier or any war should make a difference. Let's keep celebrity idols separate from honor of our men and women in the military.
- Are you kidding on 07/06 07:00 PM
Comparing Michael Jackson to Lady Di? She never gave Jesus Juice to "special" children. Not to mention the fact the woman traveled the world to increase AIDS awareness and eliminate landmines. Where was MJ during that time? Wait... I know! He was shacked up in his mansion loaded on painkillers. Gheesh... some of ya'all need a reality check and fast!
- Over It on 07/06 06:54 PM
I am so sick of this crap. VH1 played nothing but the same MJ documentary over and over last weekend. Now, all the networks are canceling regular programming. If we had this much coverage over say... famine all this airtime could prove useful. Instead we HAVE to watch druggie Wacko Jacko's funeral over and over. Honestly, I hope he falls smack dab out of the coffin right on national TV. Now, that is something I would dig (pun intended)!
- G on 07/06 06:37 PM
No i don't think it's too much coverage. Whether we realize it or not Michael Jackson changed/influenced not only America but the whole world and nobody can take that away from him. As we all know if we don't like what we see on T.V. then turn the channel, not every channel is carrying Michael news. It's amazing how people build up these celebrites just to tear them down.
- John on 07/06 06:26 PM
I think they have gone way overboard. Yes he was a talented singer, hats off for that. We have military personnel dying protecting our freedoms and they may get a small picture or mention on the TV or news. It seems that the 4 NC National Guardsmen should have at least a week coverage for their sacrifice and I wonder how many would be willing to pay to see their memorial service. As a retired US Army soldier I say shame on all of the media. I wonder how many standing out in lines for their preciuos tickets even stopped for a second on the 4th to think of the sacrifices made by our military personnel. To any fellow Veterans ot there I thank you!
- Missy on 07/06 06:23 PM
PLEASE WOULD ANYONE OUT THERE THATS DEFENDING THIS GREAT POP STAR LEAVE THEIR CHILD ALONE WITH HIM...
- Charles Williams on 07/06 04:37 PM
AMEN!!!!!! One of my sons is in the Marines and when he came back from Iraq, myself and his brothers were the only ones that threw him a ticker tape parade at the airport (yes, we threw confetti in the airport and I dared the TSA folks to say something) along with the other Marines coming off the same flight. What did Michael Jackson do for our country? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Boo-hoo his father spanked him, boo-hoo he had no childhood...he's dead, get over it and move on already.
- Trina (US Army Wife) on 07/06 04:20 PM
I cannot believe the news attention Michael Jackson has rec'd. We have over 5,000 military HEROS, who have GIVEN THEIR LIVES for this country and what do they get??? A small mention in the paper and on tv. What about the thousands of soldiers who have lost limbs or are suffering from PTSD or other problems from long deployments in the war zone? What RESPECT are they given?? NONE, by the media or congress. I'm sick to death of hearing about all these STARS alive and dead. I would much rather hear about the Private, Specialist, SGT or SSG, CPT or MAJ who was a son, bother, husband, boyfriend, grandson, etc or about the daughter, sister, girlfriend, wife, granddaughter. WHAT ABOUT THE SOLDIERS, SAILORS, AIRMEN AND MARINES???? These fine AMERICANS should have THEIR stories told, things they used to love to do, people who they loved and who loved them. I have 4 very close friends who ALL in a span of 6 mths lost their husbands and the fathers of their young children. What news coverage did they get?? I am an ARMY WIFE and very proud to say so and voice my opinion about our HEROS not getting the respect they deserve. My husband is deploying again in 2 days (his 3rd deployment). I pray for his safety over in Aghanistan and I pray for all our HERO'S!!!! So, is Michael Jackson getting to much attention?? DAMN RIGHT HE IS GETTING WAY TOOOO MUCH ATTENTION!!!!!!

President Reagan crushed the Soviet Union...he cut taxes, which ultimately led me to make tons of money in the 80's...AND yes, I am black or African American...so I wasn't crying a single tear for those who claim the 80's were so bad...I raised 3 boys during that time as a single father and they never wanted for anything...they went to private schools in NYC and we lived on the Upper West Side...so in my opinion, Reagan was the best president in my lifettime...
- Kevin on 07/06 03:24 PM
B, Ronald Reagan was president of this country. He helped bring our country out of the recession of the late 70's. I didn't agree with everything Reagan did while he was president, but historians continually rank Reagan as one of the top 5 presidents in US history. When he died, the media didn't have the same reaction as they have with Michael Jackson, Anna Nicole Smith, and other celebraties. Did Michael Jackson do anything to warrent all this tribute? No. He was only an entertainer.
- Connie on 07/06 02:53 PM
I realize that talented and creative people tend to be a little left of center mentally; however, I think it is appalling how Michael Jackson is practically worshipped despite his obvious glaring and ultimately fatal defects of character. It makes me feel physically ill to see him being so venerated. Michael Jackson was decidedly a weirdo, a junkie and, in my opinion, almost certainly a child molester, and he caused his own death with his own indulgence. So, should such a person be talked about on TV 24/7? I think not!!
- B on 07/06 02:35 PM
Kevin, What did president Ronald Reagan do not nothing. Get over it.
- Lisa on 07/06 01:47 PM
The media coverage over Michael's death has been way over the top. I mean, poor Farah and the Goslins weren't even in the news anymore. Showing respect is one thing, but when the coverage dominates the t.v. I think its a little much. He ranks up there with Elvis and he was a great pop star but enough is enough. Think about his family and kids. His death gets throwed in their faces on every channel. The media at first was rude along with many people especially about the rumors of him and children. People need to understand that this man dedicated his life to children and wanted them to have a childhood that he never had and he never molested anybody. That was a money scheme cooked up by the parents of these poor kids. He settled because he did not want to drag the kids through all the media and fuss. Neverland was built to cater to childrens' dreams and for him to relive his childhood. It's really sad that he had such an overbearing father that denied him that. At least he chose to sing about his misfortunes and didn't end up like some celebrities on the reality t.v. shows going to freaking rehab. And by the way, how many parents out there have had their kids sleep in the bed with them, does that make them child molesters or weird? I think not. Remember when you say things about someone to think before you speak, sometimes reality is not what you think it is and often times people are hurt by careless opinions.

Look, to be fair, Michael Jackson had an enormous influence on the music industry (just look at the quality of music videos before and after Jackson). He sold millions of records. But good Lord, you'd have thought God had died the way the media has (over)reacted to his death. All channels all Jackson all the time. Princess Diana didn't get this much coverage (OK, she didn't sell as many records, but gee whiz!). Here is a guy who made good music, led a bizarre life, then died. So sorry. Next?
- Kevin on 07/06 12:47 PM
We didn't have this much coverage for President Ronald Reagan when he died, why should we give a singer so much coverage? Our country really has their priorities screwed up when we give a singer 8 days of tributes, every news program televises old interviews of him and every television station televises his funeral. I'm getting real tired of all the attention the media gives to celebrities these days. The media chases after these overpaid actors and singers to see every aspect of their life. What makes them any better than the rest of us?
- Jan on 07/06 12:24 PM
I was particularly upset when I heard that our House of Representatives paused for a moment of silence for Michael Jackson. Do they do that for every fallen soldier? To my knowledge, Michael Jackson never even entertained our troops, much less serve our country.
- B on 07/06 12:23 PM
That's right give him the same treatment I bet Joy has snapped fingers, patted feet, and even danced to a Michael Jackson song.
- B on 07/06 12:20 PM
Joy, You can't judge anyone. Mike was just a big kid. I personally think it was a publicity stunt. I don't think he ever messed with anyone. He just wanted a childhood, that was taken away from him. From age 5 to 50 when did he have a child hood. You don't need to be calling anybody out of there name just because they wanted to be differeny. He was the greatest pop star ever if you ever ask me. But you have to wait until someone dies to give them the respect they deserve.Only God can judge him. Remember you are going to be judged as well.
- Let's be fair on 07/06 12:16 PM
TV networks covered Princess Diana's funeral and she wasn't even from the U.S. Why not be fair and give an American the same treatment.
- Joy on 07/06 12:14 PM
I think it is extremely over the top. Why on earth should he have any extended coverage. He is ugly (by chose), voice is nothing to write home about and he played on children. That is not a person to be honored.
