FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

A Fayetteville mom was arrested by Cumberland County authorities for allegedly burning her 3-year-old son with an iron.

Sheriff’s Deputies say Asinia Kenyetta Thomas, 32, burned her son with a hot iron and is facing felony child abuse charges.  Thomas is charged with two counts of felony child abuse inflicting bodily injury, one count of maiming limbs and one count of felony count of neglect.

Authorities say the child’s injuries include two large scares, one on each leg.  The child was also burned on his upper left thigh.  Authorities also noticed what appeared to be older burn scars on his legs from prior incidents.

Thomas is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.

It tears me up to think about all the other children that are being abused this second and who may never be saved from monsters like this...I know there's a special place in HELL for her.

this goes to show how extremly important it is in HOW we discipline our children for they will discipline how they have learned

I liked the comment that Mr. Swagger made about the M82 A1 rifle. A little extreme for my personal taste. But, why not...make an example of her as a warning to other crazy moms.

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth --- Sometimes the only way a person learns is to go back to this rule.

Let me get my M82 A1 sniper rifle and get within 2,000 yards of her. She'll never burn anyone else.

I'm absolutely appalled at what this woman chose to do to her own child. It makes no sense whatsoever for an adult to take advantage of a three year old like that. Let's face it: Three year olds can be a little mischievous and sometimes disobedient. But, that's only because they're still in those formative years. They are trying to discover things in life on their own. At this stage in their development, parents should practice much more patience and rationality about their child's growth, instead of metting out outrageous punishment as this mom did. Not to sound too judgmental, but I'd wager that the mother was either a severe drug addict, or dealing with some very severe emotional issues. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but there has to be some explanation as to why she'd want to harm her own flesh and blood. Think about that.
