Two men are charged with operating a major theft ring in North and South Carolina.
Cumberland County authorities charged 34-year old Raymond Lee Jones, III, with breaking into several homes in Robeson County and Brunswick County. Jones is being held in the Robeson County Jail under a $60,000 bond.
Cumberland County Sheriff’s Detectives were also able to link Jones to dozens of home break-ins throughout Fayetteville, Sampson County, Carolina Beach, Sunset Beach, Dillon County, South Carolina and Marlborough County, South Carolina. Jones was charged with those thefts after a fingerprint was lifted from a home he broke into which belonged to a Fort Bragg soldier.
Jones will remain in Robeson County until he is extradited to Cumberland county to face additional charges.
Also charged in the theft ring is Harry Truman Parker, 61. According to authorities, he is the owner of Parker’s Gold, a pawn shop, where several of the items Jones allegedly stole was being resold to unknowing customers. Parker was released from the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $2,000 unsecured bond on charges of possessing and receiving stolen goods.
