Cumberland County authorities arrested a man in connection with a soldier’s March 29 death.
Demar J. Bryan was wanted for killing Charles Clements, 27, and injuring Arthur Mwebe at the Jamaican Lounge in Spring Lake. Bryan faces first degree murder charges.
Bryan was arrested over the weekend during a routine traffic stop in Florida. Bryan has a driver’s license identifying himself as Ladez Jones. Investigators believed Bryan was trying to leave the country as he was carrying a passport with the assumed identity of Omar Jackson.
A few weeks into the investigation, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives began searching for Bryan
Bryan is also a known drug dealer and claims to be a member of the Jamaican community. Bryan is being held in the Highlands County Detention Center without bond. He is awaiting a hearing on Wednesday, June 10, to determine if he will fight extradition to Cumberland County to face murder charges.
