A Resource Guide to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), better known as the stimulus bill, has been released to break down North Carolina's share of the money.
The 75-page guide breaks down the money allocated to North Carolina by category and program and also includes contact information where interested individuals can receive more information, according to Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC).
The stimulus is projected to save or create more than 105,000 jobs in North Carolina through investments in infrastructure and renewable energy. This represents the largest investment in our nation's roads, bridges and mass transit systems since the creation of the national highway system in the 1950s.
In addition, the stimulus will provide tax cuts for 95 percent of workers and their families, and North Carolina will receive money to help close its budget gap and provide unemployment compensation to an additional 128,000 laid-off workers.
"It is my hope that this comprehensive guidebook will make it easier for residents of North Carolina to take advantage of the resources allocated by the stimulus to help get our economy moving in the right direction and North Carolinians back to work," said Senator Hagan. "My vote for the stimulus package was a vote for the more than 490,000 North Carolinians who find themselves out of work and looking for help in these tough economic times."
