The search continues for missing 6-year-old girl, Cazhia McMillian, believed to have fallen in the Lower Little River in Harnett County.
According to the Flat Branch Fire Chief T.J. McLamb, McMillian's mother called Harnett County Sheriff's Office around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and said McMillian fell off a 30 foot cliff into the Little River near 229 Woodwind Dr. in Spring Lake. The Sheriff's office says McMillian was playing with another child at the time of the fall. Authorities say McMillian's friend ran back to tell an adult about the fall.
Rescue crews said the river is higher than normal at 4 to 5 feet deep and the recent rain is causing a fast current.
Twenty emergency crews, a Johnston County canine unit and sonar equipment were being used in the search overnight.
But up to a hundred rescue crew members could be out again during the day to help with the search.
McLamb said six search boats will go into the river today.
Authorities said they haven't found anything belonging to the missing girl.
According to family members, McMillian was wearing a black jacket and tennis shoes.
