The North Carolina Council of State has approved all new state construction projects.
The panel comprised of the governor, lieutenant governor and eight other statewide elected officials met Tuesday morning.
Now the list of new debt is in the hands of the members of the Department of Treasury, who will have to find funding for the projects.
The money will be used toward more than $700 million in part for prisons and university and other state government buildings.
Easley has said the projects will produce nearly 26,000 new jobs.
The council meeting is the last for Easley and three other council members leaving office. Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue will be sworn in as governor this Saturday.
