Welcome to the NBC-17 Inclement Weather System. Please follow the instructions below and contact us with any questions.

If you do not have a code and want to report a closing or delay, please call NBC17 at 919.835.6399.

To sign up for access to our automated closing system, please contact Carey Adams at 919.835.6371 or CAdams@wncn.com

Instructions:

1. Call 919-835-6202
2. Enter your organization ID
3. Enter your password
4. Enter the number of the option you want (listed below) and press the # sign. You may enter the number of any of the options at any time while the menu is being read.  (Be sure to finish by pressing the # sign.)
5. Follow the phone prompt to confirm your option and to get a message accepting your choice.

Important points to remember:

1. Please make sure to stay on the line until you hear the message saying that your announcement has been accepted.  If you hang up before completing the process, your announcement will not appear on air.
2. The Organization ID that you have been issued covers all the schools in the individual systems and all departments for government offices.  If there is an emergency that covers just one school or department, please call us at (919) 835-6319 so we can enter information about them specifically.
3. It is also important to note that the Weather Plus Inclement Weather System automatically resets itself and clears out all data at 5 p.m. each afternoon.  You will need to call back after that time to set conditions for the evening or for the next day.
4. NBC-17 Today begins at 5 a.m. every morning, so call in morning delays and cancellations as early as possible, so your information can be at the top of our newscasts when members of your community will be watching.
5. Whenever you contact us about putting closings or delays on the air, you will be asked to provide your Organization ID and password as a security check to make sure only authorized persons are providing information.  We cannot enter anything into the system unless we receive the correct Organization ID and password from our callers.
6. NBC-17 cannot list every possible closing or delay option.  If your status is not on our master list, you can email any additional information to CAdams@wncn.com.  For example: If your school is Closed with an Optional Teacher Workday, please call in your closing first and then email us requesting a secondary status listing.  This will appear under the word “Closed” on our broadcast and online.
